Privacy Information for the Forums and the Website -- 15
Oct 03 |
Lots of people read our forums, but not as
many people create or reply to topics on the forums. Even if you never
make a single post on the forum you are still welcome here. These forums
are to benefit you! The level which you participate is totally up to
you.
There are several important things you need to know about the forums:
1) these forums are for you (Single Parents in NC) or anyone who has
something that benefits or encourages single parents (other than
commercial advertising of course)
2) you need to register to be able to participate in most of the forums
and polls. Registration is simple and only takes a minute. To register
go to:
http://ncsingleparent.com/phpbb2/profile.php?mode=register
or click on "Register" at the top of the screen.
The only required information is:
- username (something you make up, for example
"CaryGuy")
- e-mail address (for example sdafas345@mindboard.org)
- password (something you make up and can
remember)
- password (same password, you just have to
type it again)
Any other information is up to you. Some people include things like:
- picture
- Instant Messenger addresses
etc. You can choose whether or not your e-mail address is displayed, and
that is up to you. You choose how much information you want to display.
3) E-mail addresses are used by NCSingleParent to send out periodic
e-mails telling users what is happening on the website and in the NC
area that may be of interest to single parents. We do not share our
e-mail list.
4) When you reply to a topic or create a new topic, only the information
you have provided in your profile (the profile that is created when you
register) is displayed.
5) Also, it is important to remember that responses to polls (when no
comments is posted by the responder) are anonymous to other readers.
We require registration as a means of protecting the forums from abuse.
There have been several visitors who have wondered about these issues
and I hope this clears up some questions and alleviates some fears. The
intent is to make the forums a safe place on the internet for single
parents to share, support, be supported, encourage, be encouraged and
learn about what it takes to be an effective single parent.
If you have any additional questions or suggestions please don't
hesitate to send them to me at:
send e-mail
Suggestions and comments are always appreciated as we seek to serve you,
the single parents in North Carolina.
Thanks,
Montie
